This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and testing Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus utilized by firefighting personnel.
• Conduct periodic service visits at fire departments, performing preventative maintenance on 3M/Scott Safety SCBA.
• Execute routine inspections and functional checks of equipment to ensure readiness and compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Carry out maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on SCBA-related equipment.
• Perform tests on Scott/3M SCBA units to confirm adherence to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all inspection, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Calibrate and adjust SCBA equipment to guarantee accurate readings and safe operation.
• Provide training to end-users and other personnel on the proper use, care, and maintenance of SCBA equipment.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and replacement components, ensuring sufficient stock for repairs and maintenance.
• Stay updated with safety regulations and confirm all equipment meets Scott/3M standards.
• Engage with customers and end-users, addressing concerns and assisting with equipment-related issues.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in servicing and maintaining SCBA equipment is highly preferred but not mandatory.
• Additional technical training or certification related to SCBA equipment maintenance and repair is beneficial but not essential.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards, and manufacturer-specific guidelines for SCBA equipment, preferably Scott/3M.
• Proficient computer skills are required.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work under deadlines.
• Attention to detail and a dedication to safety and quality.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with customers and colleagues.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Previous experience in servicing and maintaining HVAC equipment/systems, small engine repair, firefighting equipment, hydraulics, or cabling is preferred.
• Prior experience as a mechanic or electrician is advantageous.
• Experience in servicing and maintaining the following is preferred: HVAC equipment/systems, small engine repair, firefighting equipment, hydraulics, cabling, vehicles, and electrical systems.
