Service Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +20 more states.

📋 Description

• Work in close collaboration with VA stakeholders to thoroughly comprehend and document their experiences, translating those insights into service blueprints, ecosystem maps, journey maps, and various other design artifacts.

• Apply mixed-method discovery techniques to reveal profound insights regarding the interactions among systems, business processes, and individuals.

• Spearhead the co-design and refinement of both low and high-fidelity service design artifacts to validate assumptions, identify pain points, and discover opportunities that resonate with VA personnel.

• Partner with product managers, data scientists, data engineers, and fellow service designers to ensure the precise and timely application of knowledge in downstream deliverables.

• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders throughout the product ecosystem, proactively engaging those affected to validate assumptions, share insights, and aid in sensemaking.

• Collaborate with peers in the government ecosystem to proactively and collectively address issues that influence our capacity to achieve desired outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional experience in research, UX design, and/or service design, managing intricate projects with multiple stakeholders.

• Exceptional organizational abilities that allow you to oversee high-profile, medium-to-high complexity projects within a fast-paced organizational setting.

• A strong enthusiasm for and proficiency in conducting research within both ambiguous problem areas, utilizing design research and strategic thinking to frame insights.

• Adeptness in working within cross-functional teams employing agile methodologies.

• A commitment to seeking diverse perspectives and the willingness to request assistance when necessary.

• Experience in identifying processes, methods, tools, and adapting approaches to meet client expectations.

• Capability to visualize and articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely.

• Proven ability to utilize AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to enhance research synthesis, improve communication clarity, streamline workflows, and elevate team outcomes while applying strong human judgment and mission comprehension.

• Comfort in navigating ambiguous and rapidly changing environments, with a proactive approach to experimentation, continuous learning, and enhancing systems, processes, and work methodologies.
