Senior/Lead DevOps Engineer – Government Platforms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and sustain enterprise-level Kubernetes platforms and cloud infrastructure.

• Oversee infrastructure delivery processes from initial discovery to production deployment.

• Make architectural and technical decisions for platforms in accordance with customer needs.

• Automate the provisioning and configuration management of infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code methodologies.

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.

• Set up and manage secure cluster operations, including secrets management and platform hardening.

• Engage directly with customers, vendors, and external stakeholders during technical workshops and solution discussions.

• Evaluate existing infrastructure environments and pinpoint opportunities for optimization.

• Prepare technical proposals, implementation strategies, cost estimates, and delivery timelines.

• Diagnose issues in production environments and conduct root cause analysis.

• Ensure compliance, security, and operational readiness for government environments.

• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer in enterprise settings.

• Extensive knowledge in Kubernetes administration, networking, and security.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.

• Practical experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.

• Proven track record in implementing GitOps practices using ArgoCD or similar tools.

• Strong skills in Linux administration and troubleshooting.

• Experience in automating CI/CD processes and software delivery pipelines.

• Knowledge of secrets management tools such as OpenBAO or HashiCorp Vault.

• Familiarity with identity and access management systems such as Keycloak.

• Understanding of infrastructure security, CIS benchmarks, and platform hardening.

• Experience with production-grade enterprise infrastructure environments.

• Capability to work independently and make informed technical decisions.

• Experience communicating directly with customers and stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Proficiency in English at an upper-intermediate level or higher.

• Experience in administering OKD or OpenShift is a plus.

• Familiarity with Ceph storage solutions is advantageous.

• Knowledge of Helm packaging and customization is a benefit.

• Experience working in air-gapped environments and with restricted infrastructure is a plus.

• Familiarity with vSphere administration is an advantage.

• Experience delivering solutions to external hosting providers is beneficial.

• Background in government, eGovernment, or registry-based systems is a plus.

• Understanding of compliance and operational requirements in public sector environments is advantageous.
