Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee and direct a team that provides technical support to small and underserved water and wastewater utilities across the country.

• Assist utilities in obtaining funding and in the design, construction, and maintenance of sustainable and resilient water infrastructure.

• Evaluate and advocate for innovative technologies in water and wastewater treatment.

• Create practical resources aimed at minimizing barriers to the adoption of treatment technologies.

• Analyze the design, costs, feasibility, and environmental implications of proposed water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

• Guide the preparation, review, and presentation of preliminary engineering reports.

• Oversee environmental sampling and field survey initiatives.

• Conduct advanced analyses of sampling outcomes and generate clear, succinct technical reports.

• Offer guidance on eligibility, access, and technical criteria for federal funding programs related to water and wastewater, including State Revolving Fund programs.

• Spearhead business development efforts, identify opportunities, cultivate client relationships, and support proposal and capture initiatives.

• Collaborate with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, state agencies, utilities, and other organizations to address challenges related to water quality, water resources, and infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in chemical, environmental, civil, or a related engineering field.

• 20–25 years of progressively responsible experience in water resources management, wastewater treatment, and the design of municipal water and wastewater systems.

• Proven expertise in developing detailed engineering reports, from initial assessments to final design phases.

• Strong knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and compliance standards.

• Familiarity with federal water and wastewater funding programs, financing options, and eligibility criteria.

• Exceptional technical writing, verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated capability to lead, mentor, and manage technical staff while delivering high-quality outcomes, surpassing client expectations, and meeting financial and project goals.

• Collaborative leadership approach with the ability to inspire teams, encourage cooperation, and establish productive relationships with clients and stakeholders.

• Experience in an engineering consulting setting, including project management, client development, proposal writing, and contract execution.
