Senior Virtualization Specialist Solutions Architect – Cross Segment

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the customer Account Executive, Sales Specialist, and Solution Architect to pinpoint challenges and obstacles to the adoption of OpenShift or OpenStack as an infrastructure platform, along with usage in both new and existing customer accounts.

• Engage with regional sales engineering for account planning and go-to-market strategies as necessary.

• Strategically plan, design, and implement customized solutions that effectively tackle the aforementioned challenges, utilizing additional support and resources from Red Hat as required.

• Identify and collaborate with customer advocates, serving as an intermediary within their line-of-business and application development teams, as well as within Red Hat.

• Work in close partnership with the product team, providing insights on both the services and the foundational platforms in use.

• Assist leadership in refining our Go-To-Market strategy for OpenShift on bare metal adoption, including aspects of OpenShift Virtualization and OpenStack.

• Drawing from your direct customer experiences, coordinate closely with the business development and technical pre-sales teams responsible for our strategic cloud provider and ISV partnerships to uncover opportunities for scalable and repeatable go-to-market offerings.

• Facilitate both pre and post-sales activities that include technical deep dives, proofs of concept, “bake-offs,” internal “DevOpsDays” events, virtualization roadshows, application portfolio assessments, and more.

• Implement community outreach and customer advocacy initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced OpenShift CNI Architecture: Extensive expertise in architecting and configuring enterprise container network interfaces, particularly OVN-Kubernetes, and integrating Multus CNI to support multi-homed pod and VM environments.

• OpenShift Virtualization Networking: Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing advanced networking solutions for virtualized workloads within OpenShift, including the configuration of Network Attachment Definitions (NADs) and managing Layer 2/Layer 3 traffic segregation.

• Declarative Node Networking: Strong background in utilizing the NMstate operator to manage host-level network states, covering the configuration of Linux bridges, VLAN tagging, network bonding (LACP), and MTU optimization across bare-metal OpenShift nodes.

• Ingress & Traffic Management: Advanced skills in configuring and scaling OpenShift Ingress Controllers and bare-metal ingress providers such as MetalLB or hardware load balancers (F5, Citrix).

• Hybrid Cloud & Physical Network Integration: Expert understanding of linking OpenShift environments to traditional data center networks (BGP routing, spine-leaf fabrics) and cloud-native network architectures.

• Over 4 years of experience with: containers and container management tools; VMware vSphere, Xen, KVM, Docker, virtualization infrastructure; enterprise automation technologies; containers and micro-services, cloud computing; and crafting technical presentations for live audiences.

• Extensive datacenter experience with integration, storage, and compute expertise.

• Familiarity with authentication systems and their integration into infrastructure platforms for RBAC in enterprise environments.

• Expertise in high availability and disaster recovery, with a proven history of successful design and implementation.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes and experience in large-scale deployments.

• Comprehension of generalized application architectures and their relevance to virtualization or containerization on bare metal infrastructure.

• Experience in delivering technical presentations and leading sessions focused on business value.

• Executive presence complemented by strong public speaking abilities.
