This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conducts virtual risk control assessments on the operations of moderately complex policyholders while evaluating exposure levels and identifying hazards, as well as assessing the adequacy of controls in place.
• Offers advisory services to small and mid-sized commercial policyholders with a focus on their operations and claims trends across all insurance coverages.
• Advises policyholders on their operational practices, claims trends, and offers recommendations for enhancements pertaining to insured coverages and improved customer experiences.
• Recognizes significant exposure risks and proposes solutions to mitigate them; if mitigation isn't feasible, evaluates the effectiveness of existing control measures.
• Engages with Underwriting to convey the implications of identified exposures and quantifies any deficiencies to facilitate appropriate risk selection, pricing, terms, and decision-making for complex risks.
• Works closely with policyholders to comprehend their service requirements and concerns, tailoring consultative services to address loss drivers and exposures while fulfilling the insured’s needs and other identified areas of concern.
• Partners with fellow Risk Control team members and subject matter experts to address advanced technical inquiries as required.
• Identifies policyholders who necessitate onsite evaluations and communicates findings to the relevant Risk Control Manager.
• Provides updates to other departments such as Underwriting, Sales, and Claims to enhance renewal decision-making, including sharing unique observations with underwriting to support decision-making for accounts.
• Promotes risk control services in collaboration with the branch team through agency visits, presentations at agency and association meetings, among other activities.
• Offers a comprehensive explanation of business operations, associated hazards, and controls relevant to coverages.
• Conducts training sessions for current and prospective accounts.
• Identifies accounts that would benefit from ongoing routine service or targeted short-term service.
• Aids in the development and implementation of innovative virtual tools and resources aimed at enhancing client service delivery, focusing on scalable solutions for small and mid-sized accounts.
• Fosters positive relationships with accounts and agents.
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in safety, engineering, industrial safety, or fire protection, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Three years of experience in a risk control or safety role, or related experience.
• Prior experience with conducting virtual risk control assessments is preferred.
• Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional are preferred.
• Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Advanced knowledge of safety practices in industrial, construction, fire, and commercial automotive environments.
• Comprehensive understanding of various nationally recognized standards and codes, including OSHA, DOT, and NFPA.
• Advanced capability to comprehend and assess risk.
• Exceptional skills in identifying and visualizing potential loss exposures.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with others as well as work independently.
• Proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing to meet deadlines.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including documentation proficiency.
• Occasional travel may be required; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards is required if driving.
