Senior Underwriting Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Offers underwriting support, advice, and authorization to company staff, agents, and customers regarding the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.

• Applies underwriting standards and guidelines within the limits of delegated authority to underwrite title insurance issuance.

• Provides direction to company staff in executing real estate settlement services.

• Issues underwriting standards and guidelines in alignment with established company protocols.

• Responsible for relaying information pertinent to underwriting and real estate settlement services to the team.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (Law Degree) is mandatory.

• Must be admitted to practice in the state of employment.

• Licensed to practice law and in good standing.

• 8-10 years of experience in title underwriting is required.

• Experience in title underwriting specific to Texas or Oklahoma is necessary.

• Familiarity with real estate law is essential.

• Comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures involved in the real estate title and settlement process.

• Knowledge of Federal and State regulations governing real estate title insurance and settlement services.

• Proficient understanding of underwriting real estate transactions for title insurance policy issuance.

• Capable of collaborating effectively and making decisive actions.

• Detail-oriented with excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational abilities, adept at multitasking, prioritizing, and timely follow-ups.

• Exceptional negotiation skills.

• Requires abstract thinking and innovative solutions.

• Ability to think creatively and make unique yet sound decisions to address complex issues.

• Proficient in building relationships and establishing rapport.
