This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• Assesses and underwrites both new and renewal business in alignment with Company underwriting policies and risk appetite.
• Evaluates risk data to make well-informed choices regarding coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Works together with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to gather essential information and clarify details.
• Requests and examines additional reports and screenings, such as motor vehicle records, loss history reports, outside inspections, etc., to guide decision-making.
• Guarantees appropriate documentation of underwriting decisions and adherence to state and federal insurance regulations.
• Reviews existing policies for potential renewal or modification opportunities.
• Clearly and effectively communicates underwriting decisions to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Keeps abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Cultivates and maintains strong business relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, concentrating on generating new business and preserving profitable accounts.
• Interprets, articulates, and promotes products and services.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Typically, a minimum of 5 years of experience in Underwriting or a related discipline.
• Completion of or ongoing progress towards a professional designation is preferred, such as Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Program in General Insurance (INS), or Associate of Risk Management (ARM).
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of company policies and industry laws and regulations.
