Senior Transformer Substation Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Capability to execute all facets of substation services (repair, processing & testing) while showcasing an outstanding comprehension of transformers, construction operations, and the related controls.

• Proficient in conducting both shop and field transformer testing for Power Factor, Excitation, and resistance readings in compliance with NETA/ANSI Standards, as well as maintaining operational mechanical systems such as pump operations, valve operations, and oil processing units.

• Diagnose and test transformers utilizing various techniques and testing equipment, which includes the partial installation of transformer components.

• Perform acceptance testing and preventative maintenance following the established testing procedures.

• Operate specialized testing equipment, including but not limited to: Power Factor Tester (DOBLE), Megohmmeters, AC/DC volt-ohm-millimeters, and various types of hand-held power and non-power tools.

• Must be open and capable of traveling for overnight, multi-day out-of-town assignments and willing to work regular overtime, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must successfully pass a pre-employment DOT drug screening and physical examination.

• Complete a satisfactory nationwide criminal background check.

• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs., climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.

• Must be able to work for extended durations, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, with little notice.

• High School Diploma or GED is REQUIRED.

• An Associate's degree in industrial maintenance or Electrical/Electronic Technology is preferred.

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant Substation work experience is preferred.

• Education in electrical theory and/or related experience is mandatory.

• Military experience is advantageous.

• NETA certification is a plus.

• CDL Class A is required.
