Senior Trade Compliance Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Act as the main point of contact for Trade Compliance regarding import and export activities within the EU, UK, and Switzerland.

• Ensure adherence to trade regulations in the EU, UK, Switzerland, Germany, and relevant international laws.

• Offer trade compliance advice to internal teams and assist operational departments with customs, import/export, and regulatory matters.

• Foster relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, government entities, and both internal and external partners.

• Assist with customs audits, inquiries, and regulatory assessments.

• Track and analyze regulatory updates and implement necessary compliance measures.

• Create and maintain procedures, work instructions, and internal controls for trade compliance.

• Identify and maintain HTS/TARIC/Swiss Customs Tariff and ECCN classifications for products, components, spare parts, machinery, and materials in the SME sector.

• Conduct research on customs rulings and regulatory guidance to support classification decisions.

• Address Oracle OTM/GTM trade compliance holds related to classifications, country of origin, valuation, end-user records, and licensing information.

• Oversee EU, UK, German, and Swiss export licenses and authorizations, including applications, renewals, reporting, monitoring utilization, and maintaining records.

• Serve as a subject matter expert on BAFA export control requirements and systems, managing BAFA portal activities and assisting with licensing decisions.

• Document compliance decisions and maintain records that are auditable.

• Manage and support Intrastat reporting, collaborating with Finance, Logistics, and customs brokers.

• Monitor and enforce EU, UK, and Swiss sanctions and trade restrictions, including those related to Russian and Belarusian sanctions programs.

• Conduct sanctions evaluations and assist with restricted party screening processes.

• Advise business stakeholders on sourcing strategies, supply chain adjustments, STE/TAG assessments, product classifications, and export control stipulations.

• Perform trade compliance risk assessments to identify gaps and vulnerabilities, implementing corrective measures and process enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in international business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Customs, Trade Compliance, Legal Studies, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered.

• At least 2+ years of experience in a multinational Trade Compliance setting, customs compliance function, consulting firm, or law office focused on import/export compliance, customs classification, export controls, and sanctions.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and German.

• Proven experience in determining EU, UK, and Swiss HTS/TARIC classifications and export control classifications.

• Familiarity with EU, UK, Swiss, and German import regulations and BAFA export control requirements and licensing processes.

• Experience with trade automation systems such as Oracle OTM/GTM, SAP GTS, Descartes, GTC, or similar platforms.

• Background in collaborating with customs brokers and supporting EU customs declarations and import/export operations.

• Experience in managing denied party screening and conducting sanctions compliance reviews.

• Familiarity with Intrastat reporting requirements.

• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis techniques.

• Capability to convey complex trade compliance requirements to cross-functional business stakeholders.

• Experience in Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment (SME), industrial production, or other highly regulated technology-driven sectors is preferred but not mandatory.
