Senior Threat Researcher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Assume responsibility for important technical projects and design scalable automation solutions for extensive malware analysis.

• Act as a technical mentor for researchers of varying experience levels, enhancing team abilities through knowledge sharing and guidance.

• Work autonomously on the most intricate and challenging threats, conducting in-depth reverse engineering and analysis.

• Collaborate across departments with Engineering, Product, and Detection teams to convert research findings into operational capabilities.

• Create proof-of-concept automation solutions and efficiently transfer them to engineering teams for production deployment.

• Directly impact the evolution of threat research methodologies, tools, and detection strategies throughout the organization.

• Promote technical excellence and thought leadership within the team, establishing standards for analysis quality and automation practices.

• Develop and enhance scalable automation pipelines, incorporating integration with sandbox environments, YARA rule creation, and threat intelligence platforms.

• Generate high-quality technical documentation and reports that effectively convey complex technical concepts to varied audiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Over 12 years of experience in the threat research domain, emphasizing malware analysis and reverse engineering.

• Strong reverse engineering capabilities on file-based threats, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, detailed analysis.

• Solid mastery in disassembly and a comprehensive understanding of structured programming, compiler behaviors, and binary analysis methods.

• Familiarity with reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja, x64Dbg, or similar platforms.

• Experience leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence for both static and dynamic threat detection, including knowledge of ML pipelines and model deployment in production settings.

• Strong comprehension of file formats for compiled code and scripted files, with the capability to analyze and contribute to parsers and feature extraction tools.

• Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python, Go, Rust, C++, or similar, with a proven ability to develop production-quality automation tools and systems.

• Extensive knowledge of major Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, Mac), with a thorough understanding of OS internals, kernel behaviors, and the technical functioning of host systems.

• Experience working with large data sets using tools like Splunk, ElasticSearch-Kibana, or similar platforms, in addition to knowledge of relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational/NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, ElasticSearch).

• Proven experience in creating scalable automation pipelines for malware analysis, including integration with sandbox environments, YARA rule generation, and threat intelligence platforms.

• Profound expertise in malware-based automation workflows and techniques, with a demonstrated ability to design comprehensive automation solutions.

• Strong understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK framework for describing and categorizing threat behaviors.

• Excellent technical communication and writing skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• History of mentoring and providing technical guidance to researchers at all experience levels.

• Capability to influence technical direction and research strategy through extensive expertise and thought leadership.
