This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Assume complete responsibility for the UI related to features and live operations content: including wireframes, mock-ups, user flows, prototypes, original icons and illustrations, final visuals, and in-engine implementation.
• Create refined, brand-aligned UI artwork from the ground up: including icons, illustrations, banners, promotional images, event key art, and other bespoke visual assets that enhance the quality and craftsmanship of screens.
• Collaborate closely with our sister game, Sunshine Island: gain insights into their UI designs and the intentions behind them, adapt these to fit BFH’s audience and visual style, and relay insights back to the SI team.
• Integrate UI elements into Unity personally, including building and wiring prefabs, anchors, layouts, and responsive scaling, while working closely with programmers and technical artists.
• Bring the UI to life through animation in Unity (using Timeline, DOTween, Animator) to create smooth transitions, feedback, and engaging effects.
• Maintain and enhance our UI design system, including the icon and illustration library, to ensure visual and interaction consistency throughout the product.
• Implement UI/UX best practices for mobile platforms and advocate for player experience throughout the team.
• Work collaboratively with game design, art, balancing, QA, and engineering teams—challenging UX where improvements can be made and assisting others when UI presents a bottleneck.
• Stay updated on the latest tools (including AI-assisted workflows) and incorporate enhancements into our processes.
• Several years of professional experience in UI/UX design and production within the mobile gaming sector.
• Strong artistic capabilities with a portfolio showcasing UI artwork: original icons, illustrations, banners, and event/offer visuals developed from concept to final asset.
• Proven experience integrating UI in Unity (UGUI, prefabs, anchors, layouts, and responsive scaling for mobile).
• Proficient in UI animation skills in Unity using Timeline, DOTween, Animator, or similar tools.
• Skilled in using Figma for design, handoff, and design-system tasks.
• Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator)—capable of producing high-quality icons, illustrations, banners, promotional images, and marketing-related UI art that meets the polished standards of mobile games.
• Comfortable using Git (or similar version control systems): adept at branching, merging UI assets, and resolving conflicts smoothly.
• Excellent communication skills in English with a strong collaborative spirit—capable of working effectively across various disciplines and time zones, explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, and proactively identifying issues early.
• Solid understanding of UI/UX information architecture, interaction design, and industry standards for mobile games.
• A self-driven individual with a passion for mobile and casual gaming, strong analytical skills, and a keen customer focus.
• Additional skills that may impress us include curiosity and hands-on experience with AI image-generation and AI-assisted design tools, along with ideas for integrating them into a production pipeline.
• Experience with UI shaders/Shader Graph for stylized UI effects.
• Familiarity with Jira and Trello for managing UI/art tickets.
• A completed degree in Media Psychology, Graphic Design, Game Design, or a related field.
• A portfolio featuring UI animation and shader experiments in Unity.
• Full flexibility: Work remotely or at our modern office located in Hamburg's city center near the Alster.
• Work-life balance: Competitive annual leave and flexible working hours.
• Become part of a supportive team in a pragmatic yet challenging environment, characterized by flat hierarchies and cutting-edge technologies.
• Work in a multicultural setting with multidisciplinary and experienced colleagues throughout the product lifecycle, fostering a culture of continuous development and learning opportunities.
• Find colleagues to collaborate with in game design.
• Team building: Strong collaboration among teams, regular onsite studio events, and available snacks and beverages in the office.
