Medical Illustrator, Science Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee scientific planning and direction for several concurrent projects.

• Specify anatomy scope, interaction logic, and asset requirements.

• Take ownership of and create production guides (PGs) as the scientific basis for each project.

• Maintain a balance between scientific accuracy, clinical relevance, and technical feasibility.

• Perform continuous scientific quality assurance throughout the production process.

• Confirm the accuracy of anatomy, interaction logic, clinical relevance, and edge cases.

• Offer structured, actionable feedback to the 3D and production teams.

• Simplify complex clinical concepts into clear, production-ready directives for a team of 3D artists and engineers to implement.

• Create storyboards, science briefs, and supporting documents.

• Serve as the liaison between clients, account teams, and production.

• Work collaboratively across disciplines to enhance workflow efficiency.

• Manage multiple projects at once while demonstrating strong attention to detail.

⛳️ Requirements

• A background in medical illustration, biomedical visualization, or a related field, demonstrating robust anatomy or clinical expertise.

• Experience in leading scientific or content direction for immersive media (XR/VR/AR) and quality assurance for deliverables.

• A solid understanding of 3D production pipelines and associated technical constraints.

• Proven capability to convert client feedback into clear, actionable production instructions.

• Experience in creating storyboards, production guides, or other similar pre-production documentation.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• High attention to detail along with excellent organizational skills.

• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and visual communication capabilities.

• Availability of a Meta Quest 3 device for quality assurance purposes.

• Experience with medical device or procedural training content is a plus.

• Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana or Notion is a plus.
