This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Lead, develop, and oversee a team of four data engineers and service managers.
• Establish direction, prioritize tasks, and enhance the team’s technical and delivery skills.
• Take ownership of a core data cloud application from inception to completion, including ongoing development, service, and dependable operation.
• Support roadmap initiatives and contribute to the vision for the application and analytical data platform.
• Convert strategic objectives into actionable deliverables.
• Engage directly in data engineering tasks.
• Conduct data onboarding for the operational data warehouse and analytical infrastructure.
• Construct and sustain data pipelines.
• Create comprehensive data applications.
• Enhance data quality, performance, and reliability across the platform and its applications.
• Execute analytics projects that generate business value.
• Participate in and contribute to cross-functional collaboration teams as necessary.
• Report to the Senior Manager of Data Onboarding, Analytics & Operational Data Services.
• Seasoned senior data engineer with leadership experience in managing teams.
• Strong practical technical background in contemporary data engineering and cloud-based environments.
• Proficient understanding of data lake/lakehouse architectures and structured data processing, including Delta Lake principles.
• Experience with integration strategies in distributed systems, such as API-based integrations, event-driven architecture, message queues, and batch versus real-time processing.
• Familiarity with data modeling concepts, comprising semantic models, canonical data models, mapping structures, and enrichment logic.
• Hands-on experience with JSON, XML, EDI, and CSV formats.
• Experience in working with APIs and their payloads.
• Understanding of data quality frameworks, monitoring techniques, and data validation methods.
• Knowledge of CI/CD principles, DevOps methodologies, and version-controlled deployment in data environments.
• Capability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions and implement them collaboratively with the team and IT.
• Master’s degree in relevant technical/business fields or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated expertise as a senior data engineer, including leading or mentoring teams.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and engage in active listening.
• Highly skilled in MS Office applications.
• Solid grasp of modern data architectures in cloud settings, ideally with Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory or similar orchestration tools.
• Experience with Databricks, including transformation logic, data validation, and performance enhancement.
