This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Assume responsibility for indirect tax compliance across various European jurisdictions.
• Ensure the timely and precise preparation, review, and submission of Indirect Tax returns (VAT, ESL, Intrastat) for the designated jurisdictions.
• Supervise the VAT settlement process, including the reconciliation and closing of transactions.
• Conduct and review specific indirect tax postings and settlements (including journal entries and related payments), ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting and statutory standards.
• Assist in the establishment and maintenance of VAT logic and tax determination within ERP systems (e.g., SAP), collaborating closely with Finance and IT departments.
• Engage actively in VAT-related projects, especially those associated with the implementation of new regulatory requirements (e.g., e-invoicing, SAF-T, digital reporting).
• Ensure the implementation of the Indirect Tax control framework, encompassing monitoring, documentation, and ongoing process enhancements.
• Guarantee complete VAT compliance for the countries under oversight, including staying informed about and applying local regulatory changes.
• Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for process improvements, escalating or driving enhancements as necessary.
• Provide VAT guidance and support to internal stakeholders.
• Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring the timely and accurate provision of required documentation.
• Maintain proper documentation and retention of records in accordance with compliance obligations.
• Collaborate within the team and offer guidance and support to less experienced colleagues.
• Provide backup support for VAT Compliance activities.
• Undertake additional tasks and projects as assigned.
• Substantial experience in VAT compliance and reporting across multiple European jurisdictions.
• Strong and practical understanding of European VAT regulations, with the capability to interpret and apply local requirements effectively.
• Experience with SAP, including knowledge of tax determination logic and data flows that support VAT reporting.
• Eagerness to engage in VAT-related projects (e.g., e-invoicing, SAF-T, digital reporting, system implementations or enhancements).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a structured and detail-focused approach.
• Capability to identify risks, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement within VAT processes and reporting.
• Good understanding of accounting principles relevant to indirect taxes (general ledger, postings, reconciliations, settlements).
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Finance, IT).
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly and practically explain VAT topics to non-tax stakeholders.
• High level of ownership, accountability, and proactivity in managing assigned responsibilities.
• Capacity to work independently while contributing to team objectives.
• Experience in process improvement and/or automation initiatives is a plus.
