Senior Tax Professional – High-Net-Worth Client Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Prepare and evaluate intricate federal and state tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, business proprietors, partnerships, and affiliated entities.

• Prepare and assess Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 1041, alongside related schedules and submissions.

• Oversee tax matters involving multiple K-1s, partnerships, S corporations, LLCs, trusts, investment income, real estate holdings, and other pass-through entities.

• Manage a significant portfolio of client tax returns and associated filing deadlines.

• Collaborate directly with clients to collect information, address inquiries, clarify tax matters, and ensure precise and timely filings.

• Examine prior-year returns and client financial data to pinpoint errors, inconsistencies, and potential tax-planning opportunities.

• Offer tax planning and advisory assistance year-round, including estimated tax calculations and year-end strategies.

• Counsel clients on tax strategies, deductions, write-offs, and avenues to enhance their overall tax position.

• Analyze intricate tax issues related to basis, passive activity limitations, capital gains and losses, business income, investment activities, and real estate.

• Prepare and review multi-state individual and business tax returns.

• Support clients with IRS and state tax notifications, amended returns, audits, and other tax authority communications.

• Investigate federal and state tax matters and determine the appropriate tax treatment.

• Maintain precise and organized tax workpapers and supporting documentation.

• Collaborate with attorneys, financial professionals, consultants, and other advisors on legal, estate-planning, investment, business, or strategic issues.

• Identify opportunities where additional Exemplar services or professional expertise might be advantageous to clients.

• Comprehend clients' broader financial and business goals and recognize intersections between tax matters and other affairs.

• Assist clients with various businesses, investment entities, partnerships, real estate holdings, trusts, and other complex frameworks.

• Engage in activities involving business transactions, restructuring, acquisitions, dispositions, succession planning, and other strategic initiatives.

• Coordinate with relevant advisors when issues necessitate additional professional expertise.

• Clearly communicate tax implications to both tax and non-tax professionals.


⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of professional tax and client-service expertise.

• Extensive experience in a tax, accounting, CPA, advisory, family office, or other professional services settings.

• Substantial hands-on experience in preparing and filing client tax returns.

• Proven experience serving high-net-worth individuals and business owners.

• Proficient in preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.

• Strong proficiency with Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 1041, and related filings.

• Vast experience with partnerships, S corporations, LLCs, K-1s, trusts, investments, and pass-through entities.

• Experience managing multi-state tax returns and related issues.

• Demonstrated ability to handle a significant volume of client tax filings and deadlines.

• In-depth understanding of federal and state tax compliance.

• Strong analytical and research abilities to independently identify and resolve tax challenges.

• Excellent client communication and relationship management skills.

• Capable of articulating complex tax concepts in a clear manner to clients and other professionals.

• High attention to detail, organization, discretion, and professional judgment.

• Proficient in professional tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel.

• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is preferred.

• Experience serving ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.

• Experience advising entrepreneurs, executives, investors, and closely held businesses.

• Proven experience in providing proactive tax planning and strategy.

• Experience guiding clients on deductions, write-offs, tax optimization, and year-end planning.

• Familiarity with trusts, estates, gifting, and wealth transfer matters.

• Experience aiding with IRS or state examinations, notifications, or tax controversy issues.

• Experience collaborating with tax attorneys, estate-planning attorneys, wealth advisors, or other professional advisors.

• Experience in a multidisciplinary professional services environment.
