Senior Tax Manager – SALT, Financial Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a SALT subject matter expert for clients in the financial services sector, which includes asset managers, banks, insurance companies, private credit, fintech, and various other financial institutions.

• Oversee SALT compliance and consulting projects that tackle intricate multistate tax issues specific to financial services organizations, such as state and local income tax compliance reviews, income sourcing, apportionment, and nexus considerations.

• Provide advice to clients regarding the state tax consequences of financial products, services, and revenue streams, including fee-based income, investment structures, and intercompany transactions.

• Offer technical advice on matters related to state income/franchise, sales/use, and other indirect taxes that affect financial institutions, addressing evolving regulatory and compliance expectations.

• Assist clients in understanding state tax implications associated with emerging financial models, including fintech platforms, digital payments, and alternative investment structures.

• Perform nexus and filing footprint evaluations for multistate and heavily regulated financial services entities operating across different jurisdictions.

• Support audit defense, controversy matters, and voluntary disclosures that pertain specifically to financial services and institutional clients.

• Keep track of and communicate changes in state taxation that affect financial institutions, translating these developments into practical guidance for clients.

• Collaborate with firm leadership to enhance CBIZ’s SALT footprint within the financial services industry, which includes identifying new service offerings and market opportunities.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is required.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting or a related field.

• At least 5 years of supervisory experience.

• Must possess an active CPA or equivalent certification.

• Capable of managing all aspects of client engagements.

• Proficient in managing deadlines, working on multiple assignments, and prioritizing tasks as necessary.

• Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, at all organizational levels, internally and externally.

• Skilled in the use of relevant technology.

• Must be willing to travel as required by business needs.
