This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Serve as the primary contact for the sales team, logistics team, US finance team, US HR, and auditors (Deloitte) regarding any US tax-related inquiries.
• Confirm sales tax decisions and gather sales tax exemption certificates when necessary.
• Register the company for sales and local taxes (both indirect and direct) in any new states.
• Oversee the outsourced sales tax compliance provider (VATIT), ensuring timely and accurate data provision.
• Manage the outsourced corporate income tax compliance provider (CBIZ) and ensure they receive the necessary data promptly.
• Address tax notices and manage extension applications.
• Track tax liabilities and ensure timely payments are made.
• Identify any withholding tax obligations and oversee the payment or recovery of withholding tax.
• Assist with transfer pricing compliance and intercompany transactions related to US distribution activities.
• Coordinate annual transfer pricing documentation with external advisors.
• Review intercompany agreements and aid in the implementation of transfer pricing policies.
• Respond to ad-hoc tax advisory inquiries.
• Address ad-hoc requests for advice, involving external advisors when necessary.
• Identify and report tax risks to the SVP of Tax & Treasury.
• Maintain a tax risk register for the US.
• Assist with quarterly and annual tax reporting under IFRS.
• Prepare and review current and deferred tax calculations along with supporting schedules for US entities.
• Reconcile tax-related balance sheet accounts and monitor uncertain tax positions.
• Support ERP implementation (SAP) as needed.
• Lead automation initiatives and utilize AI-enabled solutions to enhance tax compliance, reporting, and risk management.
• 5-8+ years of relevant US tax experience.
• Strong understanding of either US indirect tax or corporate income tax, with a willingness to expand knowledge across broader tax areas.
• Experience in managing external advisors and service providers.
• CPA, MST, or equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Experience working within a multinational or publicly listed company.
• Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.
• Exposure to transfer pricing, customs duty, and cross-border transactions.
