This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +4 more states.
• Prepare and submit intricate federal, state, and local tax returns along with associated documentation.
• Conduct comprehensive tax research and strategic analysis to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Provide thorough assessments of changes in tax legislation and their implications for the company.
• Assist and potentially oversee external tax audits.
• Address tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities promptly.
• Lead and manage specific tax projects and initiatives, ensuring timely and precise completion.
• Prepare and present detailed tax reports and presentations to senior management.
• Mentor and advise junior tax analysts, offering guidance and support.
• Utilize AI-driven tools and technologies (such as Copilot, automation platforms, and data analytics solutions) to enhance tax return preparation, research, and compliance workflows, promoting improved accuracy and efficiency.
• Identify and advocate for opportunities to transform tax-related processes by assessing current workflows, suggesting automation or AI-based solutions, and spearheading implementation efforts that minimize manual tasks and enhance turnaround times.
• Keep abreast of emerging AI technologies and digital tools pertinent to the tax and finance sectors, proactively presenting ideas to modernize processes and bolster the team's capabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Previous experience in motor fuel is preferred.
• Effective team player capable of collaborating with various departments (operations, treasury, finance, etc.).
• Well-versed in the area of tax responsibilities.
• Exhibits strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Possesses above-average attention to detail and a high degree of speed and accuracy in data entry.
• Willing and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks by deadlines.
• Demonstrates sound judgment and adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
