This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct virtual tax consulting sessions utilizing secure telephonic and audio/video communication platforms.
• Provide information and education to aid participants in making informed decisions regarding their tax situations and filing requirements.
• Analyze intricate tax scenarios and interpret relevant regulations and guidelines to offer personalized consultations and recommendations to program participants.
• Counsel program participants on tax implications related to their military service, including deployments, relocations, retirement, separation, multi-state residency, and other aspects of military life.
• Utilize independent professional judgment to evaluate participant tax situations and determine suitable guidance and referral options.
• Manage participant caseloads autonomously, including consulting session preparation, documentation, and follow-up activities in accordance with program standards and ethical tax consulting practices.
• Articulate complex tax concepts clearly and professionally to a diverse audience with varying levels of financial and tax knowledge.
• Safeguard sensitive and confidential participant information in compliance with relevant privacy and security regulations.
• Work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision while effectively collaborating within a distributed professional services team.
• Provide services during established program operating hours, including evenings and weekends, to assist participants located Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with program and compliance standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in delivering tax preparation services.
• At least one active certification from the following: Enrolled Agent or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• Strong comprehension of the military community and the unique needs and challenges it faces.
• In-depth understanding of military-specific tax issues.
• Proven knowledge of federal and state individual income tax principles.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and documentation abilities.
• Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Capability to manage occasional surge workloads associated with major events or campaigns.
• Ability to work effectively in fully remote environments.
• Capacity to endure extended periods of sitting and working on a computer.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Tier II clearance.
• Must successfully pass a thorough credit check and background financial review; candidates must be current on filing federal, state, and local income taxes and cannot have any current delinquencies on federal debts, including taxes, student loans, or child support unless a payment plan is established.
