Senior Systems Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Assist in the management of mission-critical server and Azure compute environments as a member of a server engineering team.

• Enhance Bunzl’s business functions by optimizing data processing, communications, server resources, and business operations.

• Create and enforce governance and policy for Microsoft 365, Azure, and Windows Server.

• Propel technical process enhancements and technology roadmaps.

• Identify improvements for existing environments, craft future architectures, and refine information architecture.

• Oversee and troubleshoot objects, groups, and policies within Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID hybrid settings.

• Organize Active Directory user accounts and server objects through organizational units and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).

• Manage Entra ID users, groups, and conditional access policies.

• Maintain and resolve issues with on-premises and Azure-hosted Windows Server virtual machines.

• Administer a hybrid Exchange environment, covering mail routing, synchronization, and mail tracing.

• Design, implement, and sustain automated workflows for server operating-system patch management.

• Monitor incidents and manage projects independently within prescribed timelines.

• Engineer and deploy new Microsoft 365, Azure, and related Microsoft technologies.

• Offer technical guidance within the department.

• Contribute to cloud strategies and modernization initiatives across Microsoft 365 and Azure.

• Formulate technical integration plans for business acquisitions.

• Develop and deliver training for Infrastructure operations teams.

• Investigate, develop, and uphold server security in accordance with business standards and industry best practices.

• Research, develop, and evaluate new software solutions.

• Participate in scheduled disaster recovery drills during off-peak hours.

• Assess, design, and architect server system solutions to meet evolving business needs.

• Create and maintain policies and documentation related to architecture.

• Engage in a periodic 24/7 on-call rotation for critical server system support issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related technical field, or an equivalent mix of education, technical certifications, or work experience is preferred.

• Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting expertise with Windows Server, Azure, M365, and related technologies.

• Practical experience with Microsoft Active Directory, GPOs, and associated technologies.

• Capability to deploy, configure, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments from 2016 to 2025 across both physical and virtual infrastructures.

• Proficiency in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting DNS resolution, DHCP scope management, and TLS/SSL certificate lifecycles.

• Skills in PowerShell scripting.

• Familiarity with standard system health monitoring and endpoint detection tools.

• Ability to design, implement, and uphold server backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.

• Experience in administering Microsoft Exchange within a hybrid configuration alongside Exchange Online.

• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and requirements.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to generate reports for management and business users.
