Senior Supply Chain Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Deliver exceptional service to Export clients and Sales Agents.

• Address inquiries related to product availability, pricing, freight costs, allocations, delivery schedules, quality, and transportation issues.

• Receive, manage, and monitor assigned orders through the scheduling process.

• Create production and scheduling strategies that align with customer deadlines, seasonal demands, vessel cut-off times, and port limitations.

• Review Incoterms and confirm the accuracy of shipping terms.

• Prepare and oversee export documentation, including Commercial Invoices and Ocean Tallies.

• Collaborate with scheduling and clients to adjust special Export grades.

• Work in conjunction with Ports, Sales, and Forwarding Agents.

• Conduct visits to ports and engage with Export Agents.

• Collaborate with the Sales Manager on monthly export customer needs, taking into account production challenges, seasonality, and market conditions.

• Implement and assist with special projects.

• Establish new accounts in AS400 with relevant profile information, account numbers, system comments, wharfage and handling allowances, and commission allowances.

• Consult with internal departments to ensure order completeness, timely delivery, and accurate invoicing.

• Communicate important customer account and order information to internal departments and Sales Representatives.

• Coordinate requests for product specifications, availability, shipping, quotes, estimates, and samples.

• Connect customers, sales, and production teams to schedule production, secure delivery dates, manage order changes, and resolve complaints.

• Investigate and address quality, transportation, and billing complaints, escalating issues when necessary.

• Adhere to company policies and procedures while identifying opportunities to enhance customer service.

• Support PCA’s commitment to service and business growth philosophy.

• Gather data, identify issues and patterns, compare information, determine cause-effect relationships, and propose solutions.

• Build strong relationships with scheduling, shipping, sales, production, accounting, management, customers, and other stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or 8+ years of experience in a customer service role.

• Proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Eight (8) years of previous experience in customer service or a logistics/supply chain role.

• Experience managing customer orders using an order entry system.

• Experience in developing and maintaining strong, positive customer business relationships.

• Previous experience with an automated order entry system is preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to network and cultivate relationships with individuals across various experience levels and corporate hierarchies.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage detail-oriented tasks and review multiple documents and reports.

• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.

• Strong organizational skills with the capability to oversee numerous details, deadlines, and requests.

• Previous experience in a team atmosphere is preferred or a solid understanding of open communication and information sharing.

• Knowledge of Incoterms.

• Familiarity with export documentation (Commercial Invoice/Ocean Tally).

• Numerical aptitude, especially in metric conversions.

• Understanding of exception pricing and the matching of Purchase Order and system pricing.
