This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Overseeing and implementing intricate engineering projects associated with substations
• Conducting thorough quality assessments, engineering studies, and calculations
• Collaborating with project managers and offering technical mentorship to junior engineers
• Carrying out comprehensive quality checks (QA/QC) in accordance with established protocols
• Assisting in the professional development of fellow engineers within the team
• Executing studies, calculations, and detailed civil/structural, physical, or P&C substation engineering design and evaluations for electrical substation and related undertakings
• Partnering with substation engineers, project managers, and technical leads to coordinate, manage, and enhance design services across various disciplines
• Leading and executing complex projects from comprehensive scope estimation in proposals, through detailed design and steel procurement, to construction bidding and project support
• Directing a technical project team in the analysis, design, and detailing of structural steel and concrete for transmission and distribution electrical substations with voltage capacities up to 345kV
• Reviewing and conducting studies and calculations for substation design, including grounding calculations, lightning protection assessments, battery bank sizing, conduit fill evaluations, substation sizing, and AC & DC substation analyses
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or an equivalent program
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Civil/structural, physical substation, or P&C technical support related to electrical power substation design for cooperatives, municipalities, and/or investor-owned utilities (IOUs)
• Familiarity with standard building regulations including IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, AWS, ASCE 113, and NESC (Experience with IEEE standards is a plus)
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 15% as required within the continental U.S.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license without any restrictions
