Senior Structural Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• In the role of Senior Structural Engineer, you will act as the technical authority for the structural design of Giga's modular data center product line and the related site infrastructure.

• You will take ownership of the Structural Plan of Record (POR), ensuring that all designs comply with Risk Category IV standards for essential facilities while optimizing for Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA).

• You will connect innovative modular product design with traditional site infrastructure, developing standardized solutions that can be scaled across numerous deployments.

• Your responsibilities will include stamping drawings, managing peer reviews, addressing cross-discipline conflicts prior to fabrication, and creating standardized structural templates to streamline engineering cycle times across multiple deployments.

• This position necessitates a high level of collaboration, working closely with manufacturing, MEP, and field teams throughout the design and delivery process.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in the design of industrial, power generation, or mission-critical facilities.

• Expert-level proficiency in RISA-3D, SAP2000, ETABS, or STAAD.Pro for structural analysis.

• Advanced skills in Autodesk Revit Structure and Navisworks for BIM modeling and coordination, along with a working knowledge of Tekla Structures.

• Extensive understanding of ASCE 7 (Minimum Design Loads, particularly Chapters 11-22 related to Seismic).

• Mastery of AISC 360/341 (Specification for Structural Steel Buildings and Seismic Provisions).

• Strong comprehension of ACI 318 (Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete).

• Experience in designing both structural steel and reinforced concrete systems.

• Proven capability to design with manufacturing and assembly (DfMA principles) in mind.

• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with MEP, manufacturing, and field teams.

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
