This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise the structural engineering design and construction processes for new correctional facilities.

• Assess structural engineering documents created by consultant A/E firms for thoroughness, feasibility, regulatory compliance, and engineering effectiveness.

• Analyze structural framing systems, building envelopes, foundations, retaining structures, and various structural components for safety, durability, and long-lasting performance.

• Integrate structural design with civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural, and security fields.

• Offer technical advice on structural systems, materials, seismic considerations, wind loads, and foundation integration.

• Act as the technical authority for addressing complex structural engineering challenges impacting facility safety, construction, and operational efficiency.

• Create engineering policies, technical standards, design criteria, and structural guidelines that support FBOP construction initiatives.

• Engage in Value Engineering (VE) workshops aimed at enhancing constructability, minimizing life-cycle costs, and optimizing structural system efficiency.

• Review contractor inquiries (RFIs), change orders, claims, and contract modifications related to structural work and suggest appropriate actions.

• Perform technical assessments of proposed project sites to identify structural design factors and potential construction challenges.

• Participate in site inspections and construction monitoring to ensure adherence to approved structural designs and engineering standards.

• Aid in the preparation of construction cost estimates and assessment of structural construction expenses.

• Take part in technical evaluation panels for Architect/Engineer and Construction Management procurements.

• Provide engineering support during contract negotiations, construction administration, and dispute resolution processes.

• Assist in developing and maintaining engineering documentation, standards, technical files, and project records.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess either an RA or PE certification.

• A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering, focusing on commercial, institutional, industrial, or federal facilities.

• Experience in reviewing structural engineering designs produced by external engineering firms.

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain DOJ/BOP suitability and access to facilities.
