This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.
• Design, implement, and deliver senior-level operational support for our on-premise and cloud-based Linux infrastructure as well as core IT services (such as virtualization, bare-metal, storage, and DNS), ensuring optimal availability and reliability.
• Create, sustain, and advocate for our Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation frameworks utilizing tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Foreman/MaaS for managing and deploying platform services.
• Establish and automate system-level security best practices, including patch management, hardening, and configuration management, to guarantee compliance and resilience from the foundation up.
• Construct and automate deployment pipelines for IT infrastructure services (including system images, configurations, and platform services) by employing tools like GitHub/Git, Ansible, and various scripting tools.
• Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), collaborating with IT Systems, CloudOps, Security, and Engineering teams to design and implement robust, scalable, and efficient solutions.
• Engage in a shared on-call rotation to support mission-critical IT services, with comprehensive documentation and runbooks provided.
• Develop and maintain precise documentation for automation, operational audits, and compliance purposes.
• Actively identify and promote enhancements in system performance, monitoring, and operational processes through automation and observability.
• Guide and mentor junior team members.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or over 6 years of relevant experience in a large-scale enterprise setting.
• Extensive, expert-level experience in Linux systems administration (e.g., Red Hat, Rocky, Ubuntu) along with proficiency in common Command Line Interface (CLI) tools and services.
• Strong practical skills in Python and shell scripting for systems automation, tooling, and integration purposes.
• Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and version control systems (GitHub/Git).
• Solid experience in managing hybrid infrastructures, including deep knowledge of on-premise environments (virtualization/OpenStack, storage, networking) and a strong understanding of core public cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerized platforms (Kubernetes).
• Advanced expertise in configuring, operating, and integrating authentication systems: LDAP, AD, Kerberos, SAML, OIDC, etc.
• A security-first mindset with experience in designing, building, and operating secure, automated infrastructure.
• Strong grounding in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls), including their public cloud equivalents.
