Senior Staff Software Engineer, Distributed Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Define the long-term technical vision and architecture for backend systems that facilitate experimentation, personalization, analytics, and conversion optimization.

• Design and enhance high-throughput distributed systems and APIs that manage, process, and deliver large amounts of data.

• Lead essential platform investments and the supporting data infrastructure.

• Collaborate closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and product engineers to implement capabilities into dependable backend infrastructure.

• Oversee complex, multi-team technical projects from inception to completion.

• Shape the engineering roadmap and technical strategy across the Convert pillar and associated pillars.

• Elevate the engineering standards across the organization through architecture reviews and quality initiatives.

• Mentor and develop both staff and senior engineers.

• Remain updated on industry trends related to distributed systems and AI/ML infrastructure.

• Convert product vision into specific technical challenges and actionable execution plans.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• Possess over 12 years of software engineering experience, featuring substantial expertise in architecting and managing backend systems and distributed systems at scale.

• Have a solid technical foundation across various programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.

• Have designed, developed, and operated high-throughput, data-intensive distributed systems in live environments.

• Exhibit technical leadership in ambiguous, cross-pillar initiatives.

• Collaborate effectively with product, design, data science, and machine learning stakeholders.

• Demonstrate strong judgment and clear communication with both technical and executive audiences.
