Senior Staff Software Engineer, Consumer Engineering – Web Infra

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and lead the web development strategy across all frontend teams.

• Implement significant enhancements to our extensive monorepo build and deployment systems, prioritizing high reliability and performance.

• Design and contribute to decisions regarding the appropriate platforms, tools, and technologies that ensure consistency and reliability.

• Enable web engineers to utilize AI for enhancing delivery speed, code quality, and overall developer experience for all web engineers within the company. Assist in shaping Affirm’s web development AI strategy by leveraging agents and agent orchestration to automate complex workflows.

• Create, implement, and upgrade core platform components and functionalities to facilitate the development of new products and features.

• Strategize, design, and construct our core platform software and systems to accommodate an increasing number of users, features, business requirements, partners, and new engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in architecting, building, and scaling web applications for a large user base.

• Profound knowledge of both current and emerging web technologies, including React, Typescript, NX, Oxlint, TurboRepo, RSPack, and Vite.

• Capability to establish and drive a comprehensive technical vision and roadmap - detail-oriented while also able to view the larger picture and make bold system-level and platform-level decisions for change.

• Proven track record of successfully leading critical projects and collaborating with partner teams to achieve company-wide results.

• Significant experience in developing and executing technical strategies that led to notable improvements in system reliability and performance.

• Previous experience in project management or people management: adept at influencing, effectively communicating, and mentoring others.

• Ownership mindset: you embody a sense of ownership and strive to foster a similar culture among your peers.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to influence and share key decisions with stakeholders.

• This role requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
