Senior Staff Platform Operations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India, +7 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, deploy, and deliver senior-level operational assistance for both on-premise and cloud-based Linux infrastructure as well as core IT services.

• Ensure consistent high availability and reliability across virtualization, baremetal, storage, DNS, and associated services.

• Create, uphold, and advocate for Infrastructure-as-Code and automation frameworks utilizing Terraform, Ansible, and Foreman/MaaS.

• Implement and automate best practices for system-level security, including patch management, hardening, and configuration oversight.

• Develop and automate deployment pipelines for IT infrastructure services through GitHub/Git, Ansible, and various scripting tools.

• Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert, working in collaboration with IT Systems, CloudOps, Security, and Engineering teams.

• Participate in a shared on-call rotation to support mission-critical IT services.

• Generate and maintain documentation for automation, operational audits, and compliance purposes.

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise storage platforms, including Dell PowerStore and Pure Storage arrays.

• Oversee storage capacity, performance, data protection, and high availability for vital workloads.

• Provide mentorship to junior team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or over 8 years of equivalent experience in a large-scale enterprise setting.

• Extensive, expert-level experience in Linux systems administration, particularly with Red Hat, Rocky, or Ubuntu.

• Proficient in using common Command Line Interface (CLI) tools and services.

• Strong practical skills in Python and shell scripting.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

• Experience with version control systems, specifically GitHub/Git.

• Proven experience in managing hybrid infrastructure.

• Expertise in on-premise environments, virtualization/OpenStack, and networking.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and containerized technologies like Kubernetes.

• Experience in administering enterprise storage solutions, ideally involving Dell PowerStore and Pure Storage FlashArray.

• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and operate secure, automated infrastructure.

• Strong foundational knowledge in networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and firewalls.

• Relevant certifications such as RHCE, Terraform, or public cloud certifications are advantageous.

• Understanding of enterprise security principles, cryptography, PKI, and operational security practices.

• Experience in regulated, high-governance, or compliance-focused environments.

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.

• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Project management experience is a plus.

• Previous experience in mentoring junior team members.

• Participation in a shared on-call rotation is required.
