Senior Staff Platform Operations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and offer senior-level operational support for both on-premise and cloud-based Linux infrastructure as well as core IT services.

• Ensure the high availability and reliability of services related to virtualization, bare metal, storage, DNS, and more.

• Develop, maintain, and advocate for Infrastructure-as-Code and automation frameworks utilizing Terraform, Ansible, and Foreman/MaaS.

• Implement and automate system-level security measures, which include patching, hardening, and configuration management.

• Construct and automate deployment pipelines for IT infrastructure services using GitHub/Git, Ansible, and various scripting tools.

• Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for IT Systems, CloudOps, Security, and Engineering teams.

• Participate in a shared on-call rotation for critical IT services.

• Create and maintain documentation related to automation, operational audits, and compliance requirements.

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise storage platforms, including Dell PowerStore and Pure Storage arrays.

• Ensure optimal storage capacity, performance, data protection, and high availability.

• Mentor junior team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or over 8 years of equivalent experience in a large-scale enterprise environment.

• Extensive, expert-level experience in Linux systems administration with Red Hat, Rocky, Ubuntu, and commonly used CLI tools and services.

• Proficient hands-on skills in Python and shell scripting.

• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools, specifically Terraform and Ansible.

• Familiarity with version control systems, including GitHub/Git.

• Experience managing hybrid infrastructure, which includes on-premise virtualization/OpenStack and networking.

• Understanding of major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and containerized technologies like Kubernetes.

• Experience in administering enterprise storage arrays, preferably Dell PowerStore and Pure Storage FlashArray.

• Proven experience in designing, building, and operating secure, automated infrastructure.

• Strong foundational knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, and equivalent public cloud services.

• Relevant certifications such as RHCE, Terraform, or AWS/Azure/GCP certifications.

• Awareness of enterprise security principles, cryptography, PKI, and operational security practices.

• Experience in regulated, high-governance, or compliance environments such as FedRAMP, PCI, ISO27001, or SOC2.

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.

• Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Background in project management.

• Previous experience in mentoring junior team members.
