📋 Description

• Oversee the most intricate, unclear, and high-stakes research initiatives, setting a benchmark for research excellence and directly influencing the product vision at the organizational level.

• Promote user-centered decision-making at the executive tier, impacting directors and VPs while ensuring that user requirements are integrated into the long-term product and business strategy.

• Collaborate strategically across functions with product, design, engineering, data science, and marketing to pinpoint impactful research opportunities and align insights with business priorities.

• Synthesize diverse data sources—including qualitative and quantitative research, behavioral data, and market intelligence—to create cohesive, evidence-based viewpoints on user experience.

• Thoughtfully utilize AI tools throughout the research process while exercising critical assessment to verify that outputs are precise.

• Establish standards for responsible AI application in research, creating frameworks that the wider team adopts while positioning Mozilla as a leader in ethical AI-supported research practices.

• Enhance the research practice by elevating methodological standards, identifying capability gaps within the team, and mentoring staff researchers and those below.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant applied research experience (or equivalent), including strategic research leadership within complex organizations, with a minimum of 6 years in the tech/SaaS sector.

• Extensive background in leading both evaluative and generative research across various stages of the product development lifecycle.

• Proven success in dynamic, agile environments, adeptly adjusting to changing priorities while preserving research impact.

• Comprehensive expertise in qualitative methods (e.g., interviews, concept validation, usability testing) and practical experience with quantitative techniques (e.g., survey creation, data analysis).

• Exceptional judgment in determining research priorities at the program level, making trade-offs across multiple concurrent projects, and advising fellow researchers on methodology, scope, and strategic framing.

• In-depth, up-to-date knowledge of AI tools utilized in research workflows, with the capability to critically assess their outputs, define organizational usage standards, and guide the team in their responsible and effective application.

• Acknowledged as an internal authority on research methodology, with the ability to introduce innovative approaches, advance the field, and advise others when standard methods are insufficient.

• A collaborative and persuasive communicator, adept at forging partnerships with cross-functional teams and driving alignment through evidence-based insights.

• Experienced in facilitating iterative, user-centered product development, ensuring that research consistently informs design and strategy.
