Senior Staff Engineer – Mobile, Kotlin

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Cultivate an understanding of industry standards, product offerings, and strategic roadmaps to influence team initiatives and organizational vision.

• Oversee the comprehensive technical execution of intricate features and systems, from concept and architecture to deployment and enhancement.

• Establish and uphold engineering principles, guidelines, and industry best practices.

• Drive decisions regarding the Android platform and support the mobile ecosystem for Fanatics applications using Kotlin Multiplatform.

• Collaborate with product teams, designers, and stakeholders on significant technical decisions that align with business objectives and scalability.

• Disseminate best practices, code snippets, and complete features across multiple applications in partnership with iOS and Android leadership.

• Lead incident resolution efforts as part of the on-call rotation.

• Recognize and eliminate obstacles across teams.

• Conduct and enhance code reviews.

• Guide team planning and design discussions while optimizing design patterns.

• Enhance software quality, testability, operational metrics, and documentation.

• Mentor and develop engineers at various levels of experience.

• Participate in occasional travel to Fanatics offices and other venues for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in building highly scalable and efficient Android applications.

• Proficiency in Kotlin Multiplatform, Compose Multiplatform, and other Android technologies.

• Proven track record of achieving consensus and mentoring others in coding practices and architectural approaches.

• Systems-level functional knowledge or experience with Backend Client API, Platform Engineering, and client-supporting systems in Marketing and Analytics.

• Familiarity with observability practices, including logging, monitoring, and tracing in native applications.

• Exceptional communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts to engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.

• Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to completing tasks effectively.

• Capability to excel in a rapidly growing environment with shifting priorities.

• Preferred: experience in sharing code across both native and cross-platform applications.

• Preferred: experience with webviews and creating cohesive app experiences across different technologies.

• Preferred: background in sports, e-commerce, or gaming industries.

• Preferred: ability to navigate diverse legacy and greenfield codebases, languages, and environments.
