Senior Staff Engineer, Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Designing and enhancing orchestration, monitoring, and data reliability systems.

• Establishing modeling, semantic layer, and governance standards across various teams.

• Enhancing warehouse performance while minimizing compute expenses.

• Enforcing secure access controls and reinforcing compliance measures.

• Collaborating with Engineering to elevate upstream data quality and contractual agreements.

• Leading interdisciplinary initiatives that modernize and future-proof Zocdoc’s data platform.

• Mentoring engineers and providing direction on architectural choices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Backend Software Engineering.

• Operated at a Staff-level capacity with technical influence across teams.

• Proficient in SQL with strong skills in Python or similar programming languages.

• Extensive experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or comparable data warehouses.

• Practical experience with dbt and orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster.

• Proven track record in enhancing pipeline reliability, observability, and system performance.

• Demonstrated ownership of warehouse cost optimization strategies.

• Experience in implementing secure data access frameworks and navigating regulated environments.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
