Senior Staff Attorney – Insurance Defense

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Manage intricate and high-profile litigation.

• Assess complex substantive and procedural legal and factual matters, conduct thorough and well-reasoned legal research, and independently formulate and present defense strategies for clients.

• Draft complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies autonomously, leveraging your level of expertise and experience.

• Deliver effective and timely communication, information, legal counsel, and other services to clients and claims customers regarding legal and factual issues in a technology-oriented environment.

• Interact with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel in accordance with established office procedures.

• Ensure the swift, efficient, and effective resolution of assigned cases.

• Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence during trials, judicial hearings, and alternative dispute resolutions.

• Research, draft, file, and argue appellate briefs in reviewing courts on behalf of clients.

• Provide legal opinions to the Managing Attorney, staff, clients, and claims customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and a license to practice in Texas state and local federal courts.

• Familiarity with Harris County and surrounding areas, along with reliable transportation.

• Active member in good standing of the relevant Bar Association.

• At least 7+ years of experience in civil tort matters.

• Documented experience as first or second chair in jury trials/appellate cases is preferred.

• Strong legal research and writing capabilities.

• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively are essential.

• Proficient communication, computer, and technological skills, along with the ability to quickly adapt to new software as needed.

• Proven expertise and familiarity in managing claim cases and litigation.
