Senior Staff AI Security Engineer, AI Native Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Ensure secure access for Life360 to frontier models. Design, develop, and refine the access controls, policy enforcement, and authorization frameworks that dictate how systems engage with the frontier models they depend on.

• Establish secure protocols for MCP access and tool usage authorization. Construct and manage the controls that assess, categorize risks, and oversee how we connect with external tools and services as MCP adoption broadens across engineering teams.

• Develop the identity and authorization framework for autonomous agents: service identities, scoped credentials, and least-privilege access methodologies. Define and uphold the trust boundaries that regulate agent interactions within orchestration chains.

• Create agentic observability and adversarial defenses. Develop telemetry pipelines and behavioral monitoring systems that offer insights into AI system behavior. Implement architecture-level safeguards against prompt injection and other related adversarial attacks.

• Influence security for the unified AI end-user platform. Lead design assessments, create access controls, enforce data boundaries, and implement abuse detection measures to maintain a secure shared AI environment for users at varying privilege levels.

• Protect the collective knowledge layer. Establish access control and data governance for retrieval-augmented and reasoning systems, ensuring that AI-driven tools do not expose sensitive data to inappropriate systems or users.

• Integrate AI supply chain integrity into the platform. Develop model provenance practices, service vetting, and dependency controls that ensure the AI stack remains reliable as it evolves.

• Collaborate with Privacy, Legal, and Data Platform teams to ensure appropriate controls are embedded in pipelines that manage real-time location data, family relationship information, and data concerning minors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience in security engineering, with a focus on application security, cloud security, IAM, or detection, along with a proven history of constructing controls that achieve adoption, not merely approval.

• Proven hands-on experience in implementing security controls that perform well in production. You are a practitioner rather than an advisor, skilled in defining sustainable patterns.

• Practical knowledge of LLM and agentic systems. You’ve utilized these tools, identified their limitations, and implemented fixes for prompt pipelines, RAG architectures, and multi-agent orchestration from within.

• Strong foundation in IAM for non-human systems: service identities, OAuth, secrets management, RBAC/ABAC, and least-privilege architecture at scale.

• Experience with live telemetry and detection — establishing detections and creating response pathways for threat surfaces lacking established playbooks.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and dynamic projects. You thrive on problem-solving — drafting initial standards, testing methodologies, and scaling effective solutions.

• Excellent cross-functional communication skills and the ability to assertively challenge when necessary. You convey risk, tradeoffs, and technical decisions across engineering, product, and security leadership with clarity — and can articulate and reframe high-risk decisions constructively.

• Familiarity with NIST AI RMF, OWASP LLM Top 10, and related compliance frameworks for consumer data at scale.

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
