Senior Spectrum Engineer

📋 Description

• Act as a technical expert in spectrum engineering, frequency coordination, and regulatory compliance for Kepler’s satellite systems.

• Oversee the creation and upkeep of system models that incorporate spectrum regulations, coordination requirements, interference constraints, and operational scenarios.

• Define and execute spectrum-related functionalities within satellite resource management and mission planning software.

• Recognize spectrum risks, constraints, and opportunities for optimization.

• Lead technical evaluations concerning emission masks, antenna characteristics, RF propagation, interference, link performance, and mission profiles from launch to operational orbit.

• Carry out compatibility, sharing, and interference analyses involving NGSO, GSO, terrestrial, and other communication systems.

• Assist in frequency coordination activities and regulatory submissions to the ITU and national administrations.

• Create, verify, and maintain software tools used for assessing regulatory compliance and system performance.

• Establish methodologies for analysis, assumptions, validation practices, and documentation standards.

• Identify technical and regulatory risks associated with spectrum and formulate mitigation strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

• Integrate regulatory requirements, frequency coordination considerations, and interference constraints into system architecture, analytical models, and resource management capabilities.

• Convert ITU regulations into actionable system requirements and technical solutions.

• Conduct critical analyses, influence system-level design choices, and provide technical direction on spectrum strategy, compliance, and performance enhancement.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Systems Engineering, RF, Antenna, Mission Design, and Software.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Systems Engineering, Space Engineering, or a closely related field.

• Minimum of seven years of relevant engineering experience, with significant expertise in spectrum engineering, satellite communications, RF systems, or frequency coordination.

• Strong grasp of orbital mechanics, RF propagation, link analysis, digital communications, antenna systems, and interference modeling.

• Proven experience in interpreting and applying ITU Radio Regulations, ITU-R Recommendations, or similar spectrum regulations.

• Familiarity with international spectrum regulatory frameworks.

• Experience in conducting interference, compatibility, and spectrum-sharing analyses for satellite or terrestrial communication systems.

• High proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.

• Experience in developing, validating, and maintaining technical software or system models.

• Ability to lead intricate technical investigations and translate insights into clear recommendations and system requirements.

• Strong skills in technical writing, presentation, and stakeholder management.

• Capable of working independently while providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
