This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Accountable for the development and upkeep of advanced empirical models, including credit scoring models, for a nonprime auto lending institution.
• Summarize and report information to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with various departments to fulfill overall corporate objectives.
• Engage in the creation of intricate mathematical models, such as credit origination, pricing, and customer behavior scorecards.
• Formulate the foundational assumptions, theories, empirical evidence, and conceptual integrity of statistical and mathematical models.
• Employ statistical methods to analyze trends and identify risks and opportunities.
• Utilize both internal and external data sources to develop comprehensive datasets for model creation.
• Ensure that modeling projects are executed in line with established company policies and mathematical modeling standards.
• Recognize modeling requirements and communicate them to the Director of Quantitative Modeling.
• Evaluate departmental procedures for precision and completeness.
• Apply data mining and statistical methodologies to generate analytic insights, sound hypotheses, and well-informed recommendations.
• Synthesize analytic results into executive-level summary documents for senior management decision-making.
• Act as a liaison with IT and other internal teams to clarify requirements and guarantee the timely and precise delivery of data components.
• Provide necessary information to support independent model validation efforts.
• Gain an understanding of the firm's operations and business practices.
• Assist with Model Validation and the documentation of models in compliance with internal policies and U.S. Federal Reserve regulations.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field required.
• Master's Degree in Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline preferred.
• Ph.D. in Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of analytics experience in the Financial Services industry required.
• At least 3 years of experience in the Indirect subprime Auto Financial Services sector preferred.
• Prior experience in developing credit scoring models preferred, with a minimum of 3 years.
• Knowledge of logistic regression models, segmentation and variable reduction techniques, hypothesis testing, neural networks, design of experiments, ANOVA, decision trees, and linear regression.
• Strong preference for candidates with prior experience working with credit bureau data.
• Experience using Python, SAS, or SQL is required.
• Proven ability to extract data from multiple sources using SQL and Python.
• Demonstrated capability to merge, concatenate, and prepare very large datasets for statistical analysis and mathematical model development.
• Proficient in creating complex pivot tables in MS Excel.
• Ability to clearly explain advanced mathematical concepts, techniques, and analyses to a business audience.
• Skill in translating analysis into a coherent business strategy.
