Senior Software Engineer, Web

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Web Design & Development: Create and develop web applications and software solutions that align with business needs while delivering incremental value throughout the process. Contribute to delivery planning by defining requirements and offering reliable estimates.

• Software Development: Produce clean, scalable code, including libraries and other dependencies, and ensure smooth deployment to production. Be knowledgeable about end-to-end delivery, encompassing release planning, testing, and deployment tools for various projects. Adapt and enhance solutions based on evolving requirements.

• Code Reviews: Demonstrate proficiency in analyzing code and identifying potential defects, as well as mentoring code contributors. Conduct code reviews and guide technical direction for team projects while maintaining best practices across the entire codebase. Suggest and engage in initiatives to address technical debt.

• Documentation: Generate clear and coherent documentation. Organize the team's knowledge base and resources, ensuring they remain current.

• Defect Recovery: Assist with testing requirements and risk assessments alongside QA and product owners. Be knowledgeable in infrastructure management to restore services after deployment. Actively participate in post-mortems and take ownership of specific recovery initiatives.

• Sharpen the Saw: Keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies to recommend enhancements and proof-of-concepts for technical roadmaps. Become a subject matter expert across various aspects of the technological stack. Initiate and support upskilling efforts within the team.

• Team Player: Collaborate effectively with engineers and product managers to deliver results in a timely manner. Address technical inquiries from other teams or external parties regarding team projects and platforms.

• Coaching: Offer constructive feedback on the performance of junior staff and engage in initiatives for personnel development.

• Support any ad hoc tasks as required by the company.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven Track Record: Possess 5-8 years of experience in web software development for both front-end and back-end applications. Experienced in Agile and SCRUM methodologies and can adapt to various business domains.

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields, or possess equivalent professional-level certifications.

• Product Knowledge: Have familiarity with the blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem, and be a regular user of CoinGecko products. Comfortable working in a growth-stage startup and developing software to achieve key objectives.

• Web Development Knowledge: Have a solid understanding of the software development life cycle and agile methodologies. Exhibit deep expertise in at least one programming environment and basic proficiency in at least one additional programming environment. Proficient in tools such as application performance management and infrastructure platforms.

• People Skills: Excellent communicator capable of fostering positive working relationships within the team and externally. Contributes thought leadership beyond daily tasks.

• Leadership: Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal oversight. Demonstrates a strong sense of shared leadership and values all team members. Exhibits curiosity and creativity in identifying ways to enhance existing projects and workflows.

• Scope of Work: Effectively manage open-ended projects where some key results are defined, capable of taking substantial features from concept to delivery as a sole contributor.

• Problem Solving: Proven ability to formulate multiple solutions for complex issues, employing sound judgment and reasoning to present a well-structured, informed narrative. Exhibits excellent attention to detail and a keen sense of web UI/UX.
