Senior Software Engineer – Test Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary.

📋 Description

• Remove reliance on manual QA by developing scalable automated testing solutions.

• Create and enhance a test architecture and tools that can grow across various services and teams.

• Design and establish automation for end-to-end, integration, and API testing.

• Take ownership of the testing strategy across services — deciding what to test, where to test it (unit, integration, or E2E), and how to optimize signal while minimizing runtime.

• Enhance CI/CD confidence and release safety while boosting deployment speed.

• Mitigate regression risks through targeted, high-value test coverage instead of extensive test expansion.

• Ensure test reliability by proactively identifying, diagnosing, and resolving flaky or low-signal tests.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of professional software engineering experience with responsibility for features, quality, or system-level projects.

• Strong experience in backend development (Ruby, Node.js, or similar languages).

• Comprehensive understanding of REST APIs, service contracts, and software design principles.

• Experience collaborating across backend services, APIs, and production systems.

• Proven experience in designing and maintaining automated tests at unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.

• Familiarity with contemporary testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress).

• Strong commitment to code quality, debugging, and testing strategy, balancing coverage, reliability, and execution time.

• Experience in building and managing services in AWS or comparable cloud environments.

• Solid understanding of cloud-native and distributed systems (microservices, scalability, resilience).

• Openness to participating in a mandatory 24/7 on-call rotation.

• Experience addressing production incidents and contributing to reliability enhancements and postmortems.
