Senior Software Engineer – Storage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and construct control-plane services, drivers (e.g., CSI), and tools that provision, configure, and manage storage for Kubernetes-based AI and compute workloads.

• Incorporate high-performance storage solutions like Dell PowerScale, VAST, and similar systems into automated, declarative provisioning workflows.

• Create data-path, telemetry, and observability tools to identify and resolve issues related to performance, reliability, and scalability.

• Produce production-quality software predominantly in Go, emphasizing strong testing, code review, and operational excellence.

• Implement infrastructure-as-code utilizing Terraform/OpenTofu and GitOps-driven pipelines via ArgoCD or Flux for storage configuration and lifecycle management.

• Facilitate bare-metal and hybrid provisioning at the intersection of storage with host and cluster initialization.

• Provide storage integration for k0s-based Kubernetes through Cluster API and K0rdent management/child cluster architectures.

• Design storage software for fully disconnected (air-gapped) environments, inclusive of Harbor artifact/mirror connectivity and PKI/TLS considerations.

• Take ownership of ambiguous challenges from start to finish and effectively communicate technical decisions across teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software development experience, including production systems, with Go as the primary programming language.

• More than 5 years of experience in building or integrating storage systems (distributed, scale-out, NAS, or object) at scale.

• Practical experience with high-performance storage platforms such as Dell PowerScale, VAST, or similar technologies.

• A solid grasp of storage fundamentals: file/block/object models, throughput and latency behavior, caching, consistency, and failure modes.

• Experience with Kubernetes storage (CSI, persistent volumes, storage classes) and infrastructure-as-code practices.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical audiences.

• Proficiency in Python and/or Rust in addition to Go is preferred.

• Familiarity with the Mirantis K0rdent stack (K0rdent Enterprise, K0rdent AI, k0s, MKE) and Cluster API is preferred.

• Experience developing storage solutions for GPU/AI workloads (high-throughput data pipelines, GPUDirect Storage) is preferred.

• Proven experience in sovereign or high-security air-gapped environments is preferred.
