Senior Software Engineer, Service Tools

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop the next-generation build system for Airbnb utilizing technologies like Bazel.

• Integrate the build system with CI/CD tools, encompassing merge queues, code coverage, and integration testing.

• Enhance the IntelliJ editor experience specifically for backend developers.

• Define the technical strategy to elevate Developer Experience, Developer Velocity, Debuggability, Resilience, and Reliability while minimizing costs.

• Collaborate with engineering leaders across various Airbnb teams to promote the adoption of new features.

• Serve as a player/coach, fostering code quality, engineering excellence, and operational effectiveness.

• Empower Airbnb backend developers to efficiently develop, test, and maintain code.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in the industry.

• A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, ideally in Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.

• Direct experience with build systems; hands-on experience with Bazel is a plus.

• Familiarity with large monorepos.

• Extensive experience with JVM.

• Proficient in one or more backend server languages, such as Java, Ruby, Go, or C++.

• Experience or a strong desire to collaborate within cross-functional teams alongside design, product, and data science partners.

• Ability and enthusiasm to tackle large, open-ended projects and create substantial business impact.

• Willingness to engage in product reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions.

• A drive to enhance the productivity of teammates.

• Must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
