Senior Software Engineer, Service Tools

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Developing our next-generation build system utilizing cutting-edge technologies (e.g., Bazel).

• Engaging in integrations between the build system and CI/CD tools (e.g., merge queues, code coverage, integration testing).

• Enhancing the editor (e.g., IntelliJ) experience for all backend developers.

• Contributing to the technical strategy that directly influences our core metrics (Developer Experience, Developer Velocity, Debuggability, Resilience, and Reliability) while minimizing costs.

• Collaborating with engineering leaders across all Airbnb teams to facilitate the adoption of new capabilities. All engineers at Airbnb will be your customers.

• Acting as a player/coach within our high-performance team to ensure code quality, dedication to craftsmanship, and operational excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• FLUENT IN ENGLISH (PROFESSIONAL LEVEL)

• Over 6 years of industry experience.

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, ideally in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

• Expertise in one or more back-end server languages (Java/Ruby/Go/C++/etc.).

• Experienced with architectural patterns for high-scale distributed products/services, including well-designed APIs, data pipelines, and efficient algorithms.

• Experience or a desire to collaborate within cross-functional teams alongside design, product, and data science partners.

• Direct experience with build systems, and hands-on expertise with Bazel is a plus.

• Familiarity with large monorepos.

• Extensive experience with the JVM.

• Eager to undertake projects with broad open-ended scopes that drive significant business impact.

• Enthusiastic about collaborating through product reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
