This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Perform on-site installations of advanced equipment and adhere to testing protocols to confirm proper functionality.
• Carry out scheduled maintenance visits on-site as planned.
• Offer diagnostic and repair assistance to clients and fellow field personnel.
• Foster and nurture positive relationships with customers, system users, and company staff.
• Travel frequently, often on short notice, to client locations to troubleshoot issues or support other field service staff.
• Complete and submit field service reports in a timely manner.
• Deliver training to customers and users regarding system maintenance.
• Provide feedback to product quality teams for continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the updating and correction of various Thermo Fisher system documentation through written input.
• Guide the preparation of various reports, including identifying and isolating unresolved issues with the system.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for training purposes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a similar technical discipline, or 3+ years of equivalent education and hands-on experience in electronic systems, including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of advanced analytical tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or comparable systems.
• In-depth understanding and considerable experience in diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.
• Strong ability to effectively interact with customers.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills; must possess professional proficiency in English.
• Proven track record of resolving issues with complex systems and subsystems down to the component level.
• Proficient in MS DOS and Windows software environments.
• Capable of reading and interpreting schematics.
• Knowledgeable about UHV phenomena and technology.
• Must be able to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as needed.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and walk a minimum of 10,000 steps per day.
