Senior Software Engineer – Rails, Next.js, AWS GovCloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Develop end-to-end features using our Rails/PostgreSQL backend, React and Next.js frontends, and AWS GovCloud infrastructure.

• Collaborate closely with a small, experienced team, writing production-quality code on a daily basis.

• Make significant contributions to architecture, tooling, and the overall shipping process.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in building production web applications, including a minimum of 3 years with Ruby on Rails.

• Proficient frontend experience in React, Next.js, or both frameworks.

• In-depth understanding of database management: including query plans, indexing, transactions, and migrations in live systems.

• Experience with AWS in a production setting (any region; familiarity with GovCloud is advantageous but not essential).

• Capability to troubleshoot issues across the entire stack — including frontend network errors, backend N+1 issues, container networking, and IAM.

• Comfortable utilizing AI coding tools as a productivity enhancer and explaining the rationale behind decisions they assist with.

• Excellent written communication skills — as part of an async-first team, decisions are documented in tickets and PRs.
