Senior Software Engineer – Platform Workflows

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of the requirements and workflows of platform engineers, as well as other engineers focused on developing internal capabilities and services.

• Create software patterns and archetypes that enable engineers to iterate swiftly, integrating seamlessly with our software ecosystem and infrastructure platform.

• Build tools, services, configurations, and any other necessary components to ensure that platform engineers experience minimal friction when launching new services and capabilities.

• Engage with internal users and various platform teams to facilitate clarity and alignment.

• Take part in planning rituals at both team and group levels to ensure that the needs of platform engineers and infrastructure consumers are given priority.

• Collaborate with product managers to instill a product-oriented mindset within platform engineering at Canva.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go.

• Extensive experience with Kubernetes, preferably including Custom Resource Definitions.

• Strong background in AWS or GCP cloud environments.

• Previous experience in a platform engineering role is preferred, but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with AI tools applicable to software engineering, such as Cursor or Claude Code.
