
Senior Software Engineer – Platform Engineering, Fed Ops

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Spearhead the development and enhancement of Abnormal’s FedRAMP High cloud infrastructure, converting security and compliance requirements into dependable, auditable AWS solutions for the GovCloud environment.
• Create and manage reusable Terraform modules, infrastructure templates, and platform standards that enhance safety, repeatability, and ease of operation for FedOps engineers regarding Gov changes.
• Make informed architectural choices across computing, networking, and service design, ensuring a balance between compliance, operational simplicity, and alignment with commercial standards where it adds the most value.
• Collaborate closely with FedRAMP, compliance, and various engineering teams to minimize environment drift, enhance deployment readiness, and address significant gaps between Gov and commercial sectors.
• Elevate the operational standards for GovCloud through improved monitoring, alerting, documentation, and incident preparedness, focusing on minimizing toil and boosting long-term sustainability.
• Act as a technical mentor for FedOps by coaching engineers, overseeing implementation quality, and assisting the team in adopting AI-driven workflows that accelerate delivery and onboarding.
• Over 7 years of experience managing public cloud environments, with extensive hands-on expertise in AWS.
• Proficient in production-grade Terraform. Comfortable creating and troubleshooting Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules from the ground up, rather than merely utilizing pre-existing configurations.
• Experience in deploying and managing Kubernetes workloads in a production setting.
• Background in working within or developing compliance-constrained environments (such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar).
• Proficiency in reading and writing Python, Go, or comparable scripting languages. While full application development is not necessary, you should be able to read, modify, and write infrastructure automation scripts.
• Proven AI-forward approach. Active integration of AI into engineering workflows beyond mere coding assistance.
• Must possess US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status (required for access to the FedRAMP environment).
• Actual compensation will be established based on various non-discriminatory factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
