This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and manage the cloud infrastructure utilized by Chronograph.
• Ensure an exceptional developer experience by creating reliable internal tools. For instance, you will assist in our PR environment platform, enabling developers to swiftly launch a complete application stack with its own production-scale, ZFS-based database clone.
• Create and implement AI-assisted tools to streamline operational tasks, exercising good judgment regarding safety and cost-efficiency.
• Oversee application performance and assist developers in troubleshooting production issues.
• Enhance the performance, scalability, and security of our infrastructure.
• Engage in an on-call rotation, respond to production incidents with infrastructure support, and aid teams in pursuing improvements in observability during post-mortem evaluations.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, primarily in roles such as DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering.
• Experience in architecting infrastructure and tools for production SaaS applications, particularly in a rapidly evolving startup environment. Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and Node.js is a plus.
• Proficiency in working with public cloud providers like AWS, production Kubernetes clusters, and managed database systems.
• Developed and scaled effective abstractions to manage infrastructure as code, CI/CD workflows, and local development environments.
• Optimized performance and fortified security across various systems and databases, tackling issues related to networking and other configuration/performance challenges.
• Integrated observability tools that empower developers to manage logging, metrics, tracing, alarming, etc., for their services.
• Ability to assess various architectural approaches, make informed decisions based on their advantages and disadvantages, and provide a clear recommendation to the team.
• Strong communication skills, capable of helping team members grasp complex technical concepts and committed to producing high-quality documentation.
• A dedication to maintainable, readable, stable, secure, and scalable code, infrastructure, and processes. You stay informed about emerging industry best practices and technologies and understand when they may be suitable for adoption.
