
Senior Software Engineer β Platform, Distributed Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.
β’ Oversee the design and execution of architecture advancements aimed at significantly enhancing data processing efficiency and scalability.
β’ Detect and address bottlenecks within the existing data pipeline (ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis) through thorough profiling, benchmarking, and architectural evaluation.
β’ Assess and suggest infrastructure and messaging technologies, explore alternative graph databases, and implement CQRS/event sourcing patterns, validating them through practical prototyping.
β’ Establish and uphold cross-product standards for inter-service communication, data consistency, and system observability.
β’ Develop a performance testing infrastructure from scratch, establishing continuous performance monitoring as an essential engineering practice throughout the XTM Suite.
β’ Partner with product engineering teams (approximately 60 engineers) to incrementally and safely implement architectural modifications, ensuring zero-downtime migrations when feasible.
β’ Contribute to the broader mission of the XTM Foundation team: creating shared libraries, common patterns, and platform-level tools that enhance the quality for all product teams.
β’ Remain updated on the landscape of distributed systems and data engineering, presenting well-considered proposals to the team.
β’ 8β12 years of experience in constructing and managing distributed, high-throughput systems within production settings.
β’ Demonstrated success in designing architectures for data-driven platforms (data pipelines, event-driven systems, graph databases, or similar).
β’ Profound understanding of distributed systems principles: consistency models, partitioning, replication, backpressure, fault tolerance, and observability.
β’ Extensive knowledge of backend programming languages and ecosystems β you have experience with various languages and paradigms, and you know how to select the appropriate tool for the task.
β’ Strong familiarity with data storage and messaging technologies β you possess hands-on experience with a variety of databases (relational, search, graph, columnar) and message brokers, along with a comprehension of their trade-offs.
β’ Capability to create performance benchmarks from the ground up and interpret results into clear architectural choices.
β’ Exceptional system design and written communication skills β you can distill complex trade-offs into actionable proposals for engineers and leadership.
β’ Comfortable in a remote-first, asynchronous culture with teams across different time zones; proficient communicator in English.
