Senior Software Engineer, Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop backend services and APIs that facilitate the connection between Business Applications workflows and Thumbtack's product and platform services.

• Transition agentic and AI-driven workflow prototypes into production, ensuring the reliability, observability, and human oversight required for business-critical tasks.

• Design reusable integration patterns that enable internal tools, third-party systems, and agents to perform safe and auditable actions across various systems.

• Collaborate with business and engineering teams to comprehend operational workflows and transform high-value challenges into robust backend capabilities.

• Contribute to establishing the technical foundation for a BusApps platform that enables reliable integrations, secure automation, and production-level AI workflows.

• Significant backend engineering experience in developing production services, APIs, or platform functionalities.

• Technical acumen for integrations where reliability, security, data integrity, and auditability are crucial.

• Capability to convert ambiguous operational workflows into clear technical designs that can be executed incrementally.

• Strong teamwork abilities with engineering, business, and operational partners, particularly in reconciling technical constraints with business requirements.

• Willingness to quickly adapt to new domains, including internal systems, third-party business applications, and AI-driven workflows, with the discernment to identify when automation requires human intervention.
