Senior Software Engineer – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the design and execution of platform subsystems from start to finish, encompassing technical design, production, and continuous enhancement.

• Lead significant projects by making design trade-offs that prioritize reliability, scalability, and time to market.

• Develop production-ready code that aligns with the overall system architecture, incorporating observability, testing, and error handling from the outset.

• Create clear design documentation and work breakdown structures that the team can utilize for planning and development.

• Provide mentorship to SWE and SWE II engineers while fostering a robust code review culture within the team.

• Participate in technical decision-making alongside technical leads, product, and engineering leadership on behalf of the team.

• Contribute to the open-source ToolHive codebase and collaborate with community contributors on shared projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive expertise in Go, evidenced by a successful history of building production-grade backend or platform systems.

• Proficient in Kubernetes and container technologies, including operators, isolation, and networking in production settings.

• Documented experience in designing and delivering complete systems from architecture through production and iterative development.

• Proven background as a technical lead: mentoring engineers, facilitating code reviews, and enhancing the quality of team deliverables.

• Experience in designing systems for reliability and observability, with a focus on monitoring, testing, and evaluation.

• Established track record in building or managing platform services such as gateways, registries, runtimes, or deployment tools. Familiarity with MCP is advantageous.

• AI-first approach: integrates AI tools into the development process to enhance the team's efficiency, transforming AI-assisted workflows into consistent productivity improvements.

• Strong communication skills: able to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, both in writing and verbally.
